The Knights had a great start with 14 points in the first quarter but then fell off the radar for the remaining part of the first half. By the end of the game, the Knights claimed a 24-7 win over Memphis, mostly thanks to Isaiah Bowser . Other than the seven points the Tigers put up on the boards in the 2nd, UCF gave them little to brag about.
Bowser ran 117 yards (26 times) causing Memphis a bit of headache trying to stop him, to no avail. UCF shouldn't be so proud of this however as it does highlight how this team changed since McKenzie Milton. The Knights really need a passing game, especially now since they'll be heading to the Big12 but that's a whole other article. One might even argue this game only ended as it did due to the absence of Henigan. Parrish did what he could against the Knights but even the 275yd's he put on the field weren't enough. With UCF not sacrificing any big plays and picking off three of Parrish's passes, things went from bad to worse for the Tigers.
For as long as I can remember the Memphis vs UCF matchup has always been one I looked forward to every season. Since however their 2018 loss to UCF in the AAC Championship game, these teams have lost their appeal. It seems that they are both literally and figuratively in different leagues now - welcome to the BIG12. Go Knights!
