When you enter the Bouncehouse as a visiting team, you should be prepared to lose. What nobody told Tulane Saturday night was exactly how often to expect to get beaten by the Knights. UCF answered that question when they handed the Green Wave a 14-10 loss. Tulane has been unable to beat the Knights in the last 6years, since Oct. 2015 to be precise.
Mikey Keene sealed the deal with just under 6min of game time remaining on the clock, when he threw a 23yd pass to B. Johnson. The pass not only was a game winner but also put Keene at 19 for 25 passes which is a 76% ratio on his 229 total yards for the night.
This win also marks UCF's sixth consecutive year being Bowl-Eligible which, if you aren't aware, is the longest streak in the schools history. Even with the squad from two years ago this would be impressive for the Knights but considering all this team has gone through with injury and performance issues, it's nothing short of amazing and they deserve every bit of what they have worked so hard for. This team has heart and a group of guys that regardless of captain, quarterback or coach, seem to always work well together.
One of the differences in this game from most was that the defense really held it down tonight. Mikey Keene's 15yd pass in the 1st half was the only numbers put on the scoreboard. O'Keefe even said, after his 53yd reception to put the Knights in scoring position, "They manned me up, and I don't know why they did that". Sure when you look at the whole night, it was the greatest performance but UCF still pulled it off and they now again are Bowl-Eligible and that, if nothing else, should be the takeaway from this game.
