UCF started out their season strong with an easy victory over SC State. The night started as if we were going to see a repeat of last years weather delays but a tiny bit of rain was the only obstacle. J. Plumlee started the night strong with a pass out to J. Baker for a 12yd touchdown. Two more touchdowns would be scored in the 1st quarter, one of which was a 17yd rush into the endzone by Plumlee.
In the 2nd quarter SC finally got on the board with a Field Goal and after half-time would score a touchdown. Those two marks on the board, were the only two times, all night, the scoreboard operator would even need think about clicking that button. The rest of the night was all Knight Nation. The ease of this game for the Knights was, however, sort of disappointing. It seemed Gus Malzahn was either just taking it easy or try to not show any of their strategy to potential competition they may face later in the season. It sort of seemed the same patterns were run over and over - I guess, if it ain't broke don't fix it? Eh, either way... it's a "W".
Not really much else to say about this game or really even anything to truly critique, considering this isn't the level of competition that UCF trained to compete against, all spring. For a team however headed to the BIG10, I certainly hope they can replicate this type of performance against Louisville, on the 9th, considering the fact they are probably itching to payback the program that not only beat them 42-35 but also broke Dillion Gabriel's collar bone.
