Thursday night, UCF took on the Wildcats. Sure we all knew the Knights would win this game but a 57-3 blowout is a whole different thing. Two things became obvious, by the end of the second quarter. The first thing everyone notices was that the Wildcats were way in over their heads. The second, and not surprising fact, was that such blow outs don't keep fans in their seats. Come half-time, it seemed the fans just never came back from the concessions area and it only got worse in the third and fourth quarters.
Sure, the scoreboard only showed a six point lead, at the end of the 1st quarter but the cats were already wounded. Some highlights from the UCF vs. New Hampshire Game
Dominant Running Game: UCF rushed for a staggering 454 yards, showcasing one of the best running back rooms in the nation.
RJ Harvey's Strong Performance: Senior captain RJ Harvey led the charge with 142 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the first half.
Myles Montgomery and Peny Boone's Contributions: Both Montgomery and Boone contributed significantly to the rushing attack, each scoring a touchdown.
KJ Jefferson's Passing Success: Despite a slow start, Jefferson completed 7-of-14 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns.
Strong Defensive Performance: UCF's defense held New Hampshire to 162 total yards and forced two interceptions.
I think the positive takeaway here is that UCF, although clearly can pass the ball, also have a running game which deserves a bit of respect. Also, we're watch KJ Jefferson as his performance, this season, will be a key factor in UCF's success. At the end of the day, New Hampshire was simply outmatched by UCF's talent, drive, and physicality. Can't wait to see how the rest of this season unfolds.
