Orlando City and the New York Red Bulls played to a scoreless draw on Saturday night at Inter&Co Stadium. Despite outshooting the Red Bulls 14 to 9, Orlando couldn’t break through the visitors’ defense, although there were a few close calls. The home side managed four shots on target, but each was either turned away or lacked the finishing touch needed to make the difference.
The Red Bulls edged Orlando slightly in possession with 51%, completing 427 passes at an impressive 84% accuracy rate. Orlando kept pace with 410 passes and 49% possession—pretty close by the numbers. While both teams showed flashes of attacking intent, midfield congestion and solid defending kept clear chances hard to come by throughout the night.
Tensions ran high, with a combined 25 fouls and four yellow cards issued—three of them to New York. Orlando was reduced to ten men in the 56th minute when Rodrigo Schlegel was sent off with a red card. The Lions earned six corners and looked dangerous on set pieces, but the Red Bulls stayed organized at the back. With the draw, both teams remain tied at 12 points, currently sitting 6th and 7th place.
